Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s “leadership” in pushing forward the Gaza peace plan, as signs emerged that progress could be made on the release of hostages.
Mr. Modi’s remarks came shortly after Mr. Trump shared a statement from Hamas, in which the militant group expressed willingness to discuss freeing all remaining hostages held since October 2023.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Trump released a video message thanking Arab and Islamic nations for mediating the talks. He also urged Israel to halt its bombing campaign in Gaza to allow room for negotiations.
